Tierra Baldwin

Principal

Tierra Baldwin has dedicated 30 years to the field of education. She began her career teaching middle school in Pontiac, where she taught for four years before joining Detroit Public Schools, working with both middle and high school students for eight years. In 2008, she moved to Southfield Public Schools, where she taught high school for 11 years before being promoted to Assistant Principal at Birney K-8. In 2024, she was honored to become the Principal of Birney K-8.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Jackson State University in 1996, her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University in 2003, and her Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Wayne State in 2013.

Outside of her professional life, she has been happily married to her loving husband for 27 years, and they have three wonderful sons and four beautiful grandchildren. Education is her passion and purpose—she truly cherishes the lifelong relationships she has built throughout her journey in this field.
